Janne Backman takes up the role on 25 September. He was elected vice-chair at the annual general meeting earlier this year and now succeeds Carola Lemne, who announced in the spring that she intended to step down in September.
The new chair has more than 20 years of experience in the life science industry and has previously held senior roles in strategy, marketing and research and development at The Medicines Company. There, he worked on international commercialisation strategies, product launches in Europe and global development programmes.
