Merck (known as MSD in Europe) has struck another deal as it searches for successors to its blockbuster Keytruda, whose patent is set to expire within the next few years.
The latest agreement gives the company the rights to develop, manufacture and commercialise the oral KRAS inhibitor SPR2015.
Interest in the KRAS protein has increased sharply in recent years. It is a signalling molecule that regulates cell growth, and certain mutations can cause the protein to remain active, driving tumour cell growth and survival.
