The Solna-based company’s drug candidate is a different type of obesity treatment from the much-discussed GLP-1 agonists, such as Novo Nordisk’s Wegovy (semaglutide) and Eli Lilly’s Zepbound (tirzepatide).
The drug, EMP16, contains two previously approved active pharmaceutical ingredients in a new formulation designed to improve tolerability. The aim has been to complement other weight-loss treatments and offer long-term maintenance of weight loss following GLP-1 treatment.
