Roche's Tecentriq gets FDA nod after strong colon cancer data

A combination of Tecentriq and chemotherapy cut the risk of recurrence or death by half in patients with stage III colon cancer and dMMR tumours. The results have now paved the way for a new FDA approval.

The new approval covers Tecentriq (atezolizumab) and its subcutaneous formulation, Tecentriq Hybreza, in combination with chemotherapy as adjuvant treatment for patients with stage III colon cancer whose tumours have deficient DNA mismatch repair (dMMR).

The decision marks Tecentriq's twelfth approved indication in the US and is based on the phase 3 ATOMIC study.
