Existing immunotherapies, in which patients receive controlled doses of an allergen to gradually build up tolerance, often require treatment over several years and carry a risk of allergic reactions.

Desentum, by contrast, uses advanced protein engineering to develop genetically modified allergens designed to train the immune system to develop tolerance to allergy-triggering substances, while reducing the risk of unwanted reactions.
