Former Novo Nordisk CEO nominated as Lundbeck chair

Lars Fruergaard Jørgensen, former CEO of Novo Nordisk, has been nominated to become the new Chair of the Board at Lundbeck. He is expected to succeed Dorothea Wenzel, who has informed the Board of her intention to step down.

Lars Fruergaard Jørgensen joined Novo Nordisk in 1991 and served as its CEO from 2017 to 2025, when he left the role following a period of growing market challenges and a falling share price.

During his tenure, he led Novo Nordisk through a period of substantial growth. He has more than 30 years of international experience in the pharmaceutical industry and has also served as president of the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA).
