Ascendis’ weekly achondroplasia treatment recommended for EU approval
A treatment from Danish company Ascendis Pharma for achondroplasia, a condition that causes disproportionate short stature, has been recommended for approval in the EU.
The European Medicines Agency’s Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) issued a positive opinion on Friday for Yuviwel (navepegritide) for children aged two and older with achondroplasia.
The genetic skeletal disorder is caused by a mutation in the FGFR3 gene, which results in the arms and legs being shorter than normal, while the trunk is more normally developed.
