Health economist after TLV’s assessment: Kisunla still has a chance

In its health‑economic evaluation, Swedish reimbursment agency TLV concludes that Kisunla (donanemab), developed by the US company Eli Lilly, has a clinically demonstrated effect in slowing cognitive decline in patients with early Alzheimer’s disease.

However, there is very substantial uncertainty regarding, among other things, the persistence of the treatment effect after discontinuation, as previously reported. According to TLV, Lilly’s reasoning relies largely on theoretical arguments based on biomarker effects rather than clinical data.
